Serena Williams Fueled By Coffee

Serena Williams Fueled By Coffee

Serena Williams' third-round exit at the 2022 US Open may very well be the last that we have seen of her performing in her professional tennis career. Although she did not mention the word retire, it is evident that she is preparing to transition away from the game with her 42 birthday coming up on September 26.

For decades, Serena has ruled the courts racking up 23 Grand Slam Singles Titles, 4 Olympic Gold Medals and countless other accolades along the way.

Always one to make the headlines, Serena sent the world into a frenzy back in 2015 when she ordered an expresso during a match against Flavia Pennetta in Perth following her first set 0-6 lost at the Hopman Cup.

The 'miracle coffee' as Serena later joked about, did the trick. She recovered to beat Flavia Pennetta 0-6, 6-3, 6-0 on a sweltering day.

'I was just feeling it, so I just had to get some coffee into me,' Williams said. 'I just asked them to get me a shot of espresso - I asked them if it was legal, because I've never done it before. I needed to wake up.'

Serena's ability aside, coffee does have the power to jolt you into action when the body and mind are lagging.

Was this her secret weapon throughout her career? We may never know, but Serena has etched her name into the sport's history book as perhaps the GOAT (greatest of all time).

One thing that is certain, is Serena's investment alongside Rapper Jay-Z in the Indonesian coffee shop chain Kopi Kenangan. Kopi Kenangan was founded in 2017 and now has over 600 hundred stores in several Indonesian cities.

As Serena transitions from the sport of tennis, we will be sipping our cups of java while keeping a close watch on her and her coffee connections.
